Bananas are a well-liked tropical fruit that can be found almost everywhere. They are full of potassium, vitamin C and fiber. There are five types of bananas: yellow bananas, red bananas, baby bananas, apple bananas and baking bananas. You can buy bananas year-round, and they are usually a somewhat inexpensive fruit. You can eat them fresh or cooked. They are often fried, baked or grilled, but bananas can also be smoked.

Step 1

Preheat a smoker to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Cut the bananas in half lengthwise, leaving the skins on.

Step 3

Place the banana halves on the smoker racks and cook them for about 30 minutes or until the skins come off easily.

Step 4

Remove the peels from the banana halves and place the bananas on a greased baking sheet.

Step 5

Sprinkle some sugar or honey and cinnamon on each banana half and top each of them with your choice of crushed or sliced nuts.

Step 6

Turn on the broiler in your oven and place the baking sheet with the bananas under the broiler. Broil for about five minutes, or until the tops of the bananas are golden brown.
