Peanuts are among the most widely consumed nuts in the world. People prepare them in a variety of ways, from honey roasted to simply salted. They are traditionally roasted in oil, salted and packaged for distribution. Peanuts take several hours to prepare, as they require time to soak and simmer in a saltwater solution.

Step 1

Bring water to a boil and add salt.

Step 2

Remove the water from the heat and stir in the peanuts. Let the peanuts soak for three to five hours, stirring periodically.

Step 3

Place the peanuts and brine over very low heat and let them simmer for about three hours.

Step 4

Toss the peanuts in peanut oil and 1 tbsp. of salt, then bake them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minute to roast.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you intend to use peanuts to make peanut butter, use Spanish peanuts.
