Vitamin C is an essential vitamin that helps to boost your immune system and support healthy cell development. If you are a man, aim to consume at least 90 mg of vitamin C per day and if you are a woman, consume 75 mg of vitamin C per day, recommends the National Institutes of Health. Eating fruits and some vegetables that contain vitamin C is one of the easiest ways to consume it, but you may be looking for other food preparation method to incorporate vitamin c into your diet. One way to do so is to bake with foods that have high concentrations of vitamin C.
Step 1
Bake kiwis to make an individual dessert. Slice off the end of each kiwi and cut two slits into the top side to make a cross. On top of the kiwi, drizzle maple syrup or honey and sprinkle with cinnamon or all-spice. Bake in a 375-F oven for a few minutes, only until they are heated through.
Step 2
Make a breakfast fortified with vitamin C by baking orange muffins. Combine basic baking ingredients such as all-purpose flour, brown and white sugar, cinnamon, butter and salt with orange zest to give the muffins flavor. Serve with a side of fresh orange slices or use some of the orange slices to make an orange glaze for the muffins.
Step 3
Incorporate pineapples into your dessert with an easy pineapple bake. Mix crushed pineapple into a mixture of flour, butter, egss, sugar and cinnamon. Bake the mixture at 350 degrees F for one hour.
Step 4
Slice green and red peppers into 2-inch slivers for a frittata. Slice other vegetables such as tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and combine with eggs, salt, pepper and cheese. Layer the vegetables in a baking dish and bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately an hour.
Step 5
Chop squash and add it to your lasagna recipe to incorporate more vegetables and vitamin C. Replace meat with squash and stewed tomatoes as a vegetarian option.
