Michelle Schoffro Cook wrote the "The Life Force Diet: 3 Weeks to Supercharge Your Health and Stay Slim with Enzyme-Rich Foods." Cook is a registered dietitian and herbalist. In her book, she explains how to nourish your body through a specific diet. In the three-week program, Cook introduces a diet that includes organic and raw food products, claiming that the vitamins, minerals and enzymes found in these foods will help your body heal and function more efficiently. You should, however, speak with a medical professional prior to attempting this diet.
The Diet
You should never eat processed foods, notes author Michelle Schoffro Cook. Therefore, you should never buy a processed food product again -- and if you have any processed food items in your pantry or refrigerator, you should immediately throw them out. During the three-week diet, you completely eliminate processed foods from your diet. Cook states that processed foods cause weight gain and also make you feel unhealthy. "The Life Force Diet: 3 Weeks to Supercharge Your Health and Stay Slim with Enzyme-Rich Food" provides detailed explanations about the foods you should eat and why you should eat them.
The Raw Foods
The basic benefit of eating raw foods is that all the nutrients naturally found in the raw foods have not been processed out of the food, notes Cook. In other words, raw foods still contain the vitamins, minerals and enzymes your body requires. Although the Life Force Diet lasts for only three-weeks, the aim of the diet is for you to make life-long changes to your diet that continue after the three-week diet period.
The Organic Foods
In addition to requiring you to eat raw foods, the Life Force Diet requires you to eat foods that are free from chemicals such as pesticides, artificial fertilizers, waxes and preservatives. To this end, you should try to find raw foods that have received a non-genetically modified organism certification. Additionally, the diet encourages you to use a vitamin and mineral supplement to make up for any deficiencies found in the raw foods that you eat.
The Enzymes
Enzymes are another important component of the Life Force Diet. Enzymes affect the speed at which chemical reactions occur in your body. Further, enzymes are reaction-specific, meaning each enzyme has one task that it performs. Enzymes help absorb the nutrients you eat. If the required enzyme is not found in your system to process a specific nutrient, your body can not absorb that nutrient. Therefore, the Life Force Diet also requires you to take enzyme supplements to ensure that your body can effectively process the nutrients found in the raw foods that you eat.
Diet Details
During the first week of the Life Force Diet, you add enzyme-rich foods to your diet such as sprouts, pineapples, raw vegetables and nuts. Additionally during the first week, you start to remove processed foods from your diet. In the second week, you eliminate sugar, all processed foods and meat. During the second week, you also add soy-based protein to your diet. During the final week of the diet, you can include sweet potatoes, salmon, beans, lentils and wild rice. The diet does not require you to limit the quantities of foods you eat, but only the types of foods you introduce into your system. Other than the foods mentioned, the Life Force Diet allows you to eat an unlimited amount of raw, uncooked, fruits and vegetables and encourages you to eat these raw foods as snacks throughout the day.
