Dieters tend to turn to mustard over other condiments such as mayonnaise to save calories. The seeds of various mustard plants, including yellow, black, white and garlic, have numerous medicinal qualities, including helping you to maintain your weight. Mustard seeds can help to speed up your metabolism while also assisting digestion. When you consume it in accordance with a regular workout program and healthy eating plan, mustard may help you to lose extra body fat. You can include mustard seeds and leaves in your meals in numerous ways.

Step 1

Spread mustard on your food; eating mustard, especially spicy mustard, can contribute to your metabolism health. Choose healthy foods like turkey or chicken breast rather than those loaded with saturated fat, such as cheeseburgers or hotdogs, which can counteract the weight-loss benefits of the mustard.

Step 2

Season foods, such as chicken, fish or beef, with mustard seeds. Sprinkle the seeds onto the food along with other traditional spices, such as garlic powder or paprika; the mustard will add a slight spicy and savory taste to your favorite meals.

Step 3

Add mustard leaves to your salad along with your favorite lettuce and vegetables, such as cucumbers, tomatoes and bell peppers. The mustard leaves will add a zesty taste to the low-calorie vegetables. You can also add mustard seeds to your salad dressing.

Step 4

Mix mustard seeds and leaves into homemade soups and stews. Place the seeds in the soups and stews along with any other spices that you are using and add the mustard leaves 20 minutes before they are finished cooking.

Step 5

Cook mustard greens as a vegetable to go with lunch or dinner. Saute the mustard greens in 1 tbsp. of olive oil for a few minutes or place them in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes.
