More than 29.5 million Americans experience the throbbing, recurrent head pain involved with migraines, according to the National Headache Foundation. Before or after your headache, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, appetite loss, irritability and exhaustion. Although the specific cause remains unknown, bright lights, stress, loud noises, skipping meals, irregular sleep and certain foods, including bananas, citrus fruits and avocados, may contribute. Other fruits, however, may enhance your wellness without increasing your risk for symptoms.

Kiwi and Strawberries

Citrus fruits are valuable and common sources of vitamin C, which supports a strong immune system and wound healing and may help reduce inflammation. Because citrus fruits may contribute to migraine flareups, incorporating other sources of the vitamin may be important. Next to citrus fruits, kiwi and strawberries are top fruit sources of vitamin C.

Figs

Migraines have been linked with low levels magnesium levels, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, and increasing your intake may help reduce the frequency of your symptoms. Magnesium may also lower the risk of migraines triggered by menstruation. A serving of four figs provides more than 100 mg of magnesium, which is roughly 1/4 of men's daily recommended allowance and 1/3 of women's RDA.

Melons

Melons provide rich amounts of water, which is particularly important if you've lost fluids due to vomiting, according to the UMMC. They also contain valuable amounts of magnesium. One cup of cantaloupe provides 19 mg of magnesium. One-eighth of a honeydew provides 16 mg. Cantaloupe is also rich in vitamin C.

Peaches

One cup of peaches provides 19 mg of magnesium. Peaches also provide notable amounts of vitamin B-2. Although additional research is needed, according to the UMMC, consuming more vitamin B-2 may also lead to reduced migraine symptoms.
