What Is Healthy to Eat at Carrabba's?

Carrabba's Italian Grill is a casual dining restaurant chain founded in 1986 in Houston, Texas. As of 2011, Carrabba's has more than 200 locations in the United States thanks to a development partnership with Outback. While Carrabba's offers many flavorful dishes, not all of them are ideal from a health standpoint, as many are high in fat and calories.

Low in Calories

Not many dishes at Carrabba's are low in calories, but several are. The chain's spicy
Sicilian Chicken Soup contains just 121 calories, with 5 g of fat, 7 g of carbohydrates and 7 g of protein. In addition, Carrabba's Zucchini Fritte contains just 270 calories per fritte, with 14 g of fat, 25 g of carbohydrates and 7 g of protein.

Low in Fat

Because of the inclusion of cheese and olive oil, many Carrabba's dishes are high in fat. However, there are a few low-fat options. One is the Minestrone Soup, which contains 4 g of fat, 160 calories, 20 g of carbohydrates and 12 g of protein. The Spaghetti Pomodoro is high in calories, with 530, but contains just 2 g of fat.

Low in Carbohydrates

If you're following a low-carbohydrate diet, Carrabba's may not be an ideal choice, as Italian food tends to be rich in carbohydrates. However, the restaurant's grilled mixed vegetable dish contains just 10 g of carbohydrates, while the Chicken Bryan contains only 11 g. However, the latter dish is high in calories, with 540, and fat, with 38 g.

High in Protein

Carrabba's offers several dishes that are high in protein. A high protein intake can be helpful when you're looking to gain muscle and, if you consume a calorie deficit, losing weight. The Chicken Bryan contains 38 g of protein, while the Linguine Pescatore provides 57 g, although it is very high in calories, with 800.
