For the true chocolate lover, there aren't too many foods that a thorough coating of chocolate won't enhance. While fruit is a traditional choice for chocolate dipping, crackers lend a salty crunch to the sweetness. Chocolate dipped crackers are easy to make, whether you're looking to impress company, create a fun snack with the kids, or just satisfy a sweet tooth.
Step 1
Empty milk chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl less than halfway full, to allow room for stirring without spilling. Break larger pieces of chocolate into bits smaller than 1/2-inch, or grate into shavings.
Step 2
Place the bowl into the microwave and heat the chocolate at 50 percent power for 10 to 15 seconds.
Step 3
Stir the chocolate, and continue heating in 10-second intervals then stirring, until the lumps are gone and the consistency is smooth.
Step 4
Line a plate, baking dish, or cookie sheet with wax paper.
Step 5
Dip crackers one at a time into the melted chocolate, using tongs or gloved hands.
Step 6
Place dipped crackers onto the wax paper-lined surface.
Step 7
Place the tray of dipped crackers into the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden. Remove the crackers from the wax paper and rearrange on a plate to serve.
Tips and Warnings
- For different, tasty combinations, mix and match all types of crackers with other varieties of chocolate, such as white or dark. If desired, top chocolate-dipped crackers with nuts or sprinkles while still soft, before placing them into the refrigerator to set. Store leftover chocolate-dipped crackers for up to a week in a plastic storage bag or airtight container in a cool dry place, or in the refrigerator.
