Freezing turkey bacon is an option if you need to keep your meat fresh a little bit longer than refrigeration allows. Turkey bacon contains a lower amount of cholesterol and fat than pork bacon and also represents an alternative for those who want to avoid pork. Note that turkey bacon is still high in sodium due to the curing process. The National Center for Home Food Preservation recommends keeping cured meats like turkey bacon in the freezer for one month and no longer than three months.
Step 1
Seal your unopened turkey bacon tightly with freezer wrapping or heavy duty foil.
Step 2
Write the date and "turkey bacon" on the outside of the wrapped package.
Step 3
Place in a freezer set to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below.
Tips and Warnings
- If you choose to freeze opened turkey bacon, do so immediately after opening the package. Remove turkey bacon from the package, wrap tightly and refrigerate.
