Doctor Travis Stork is an urgent care doctor at Vanderbilt Medical Center and a co-host of the TV show "The Doctors." He also is the author of a new diet book titled, "Lean Belly Prescription." In that book, he describes Stork's diet, a revolutionary approach to weight loss. According to the Diets in Review website, following the diet can help you lose up to 15 lbs. in as little as four weeks.
Diet Overview
Doctor Stork's diet provides eight basic steps of diet instructions. Although that may seem like a complicated diet plan, he suggests that even choosing three of the steps and sticking to them can lead to significant weight loss. The focus of the diet is on eating foods that you enjoy, just in healthy quantities, to minimize the diet's impact on your lifestyle.
Small changes
First, eat up to three servings of dairy per day, including one for breakfast. For those who love pasta, substitute whole grain products for regular. Just changing to whole grain pastas can help you lose up to 8 lbs. in a month.
Substitute for Soda
The only food product that he recommends completely removing is soda since it adds useless calories without providing any nutrition. Instead, drink fruit juice and eat fruits and vegetables for a lower calorie and higher nutrient food source.
Big Breakfast and Small Snacks
Eat a big breakfast but have many small healthy snacks the rest of the day. For breakfast, he recommends whole grain items combined with lean protein, such as egg whites. Fresh fruit can be added for more nutrient-rich calories. Low-fat milkshakes can be a healthy snack as they provide the necessary dairy content without extra fat and sacrificing much taste.
