Maximum Definition Diet

Vince Gironda is a bodybuilder and strength training coach who recommends a diet high in protein, fats and cholesterol and low in carbohydrates to build your physique. Gironda called his diet the Maximum Definition Diet, and according to Gironda, this diet will help you get rid of fat in your body and show the hidden muscle you have underneath. Gironda, however, is not a trained nutritionist, dietitian or medical professional. Therefore, you should consult a licensed medical professional before starting the Maximum Definition Diet.

The Diet

The Maximum Definition Diet requires you to eat large amounts of protein without any carbohydrates for four days. On day five of the diet, you will replenish the glycogen in your liver by loading up on good carbohydrates. During the protein phase of the diet, you cannot eat any fruits, vegetables or dairy products except for butter and cream. You can, however, eat all animal proteins you want during the first four days of this diet. According to Gironda, the diet will give your muscles increased definition.

Eating for Value

Gironda states that everything you eat should have a specific nutritional and food value. Further, all of the foods you eat during this diet should come from natural, non-processed, sources. In other words, this diet completely eliminates processed foods, sugars and all junk foods because these types of food have limited nutritional food value.

Cholesterol

According to Gironda, cholesterol plays an important role in your body's production of testosterone. Gironda believes that foods high in cholesterol do not necessarily cause blood cholesterol levels to rise in your body. Gironda states that processed foods and triglycerides are primarily responsible for increased cholesterol levels in your blood. The maximum definition diet requires you to eat foods high in saturated fats. Gironda believes that saturated fats containing cholesterol will help your body to increase its testosterone production further defining your muscles. Current evidence, however, suggests that saturated fats can increase your cholesterol levels and lead to long-term weight gain and heart diseases.

Health

The Maximum Definition Diet includes dozens of eggs, high fat meats, heavy cream and butter. Clinical studies have not confirmed the long-term safety or effectiveness of the maximum definition diet. While this diet may increase your muscle definition when combined with an exercise regimen as recommended by Gironda, using this diet for extended periods of time may adversely affect your long-term health. You should speak with a licensed medical professional before attempting this diet.
