Although there are commercial products available to remove facial hair, many contain strong chemicals or artificial ingredients that may not be the best choice for those with sensitive skin. Also, commercially made products can be expensive. Making your own at home will protect not only your skin but also your wallet.
Step 1
Pluck or shave any hair that is coarse or that you want to remove on a specific pattern. Because most methods involving more invasive techniques (such as creams or wax) usually get rid of large portions of hair at once, they may not be appropriate for hair on or near the eyebrows or beard.
Step 2
Make a wax alternative. Mix sugar, lemon, honey and cornstach. Microwave the mix for two to three minutes. With the Popsicle stick, apply over the upper lip or any area that you intend to remove hair from. Immediately place a strip of cloth over the mixture and rub into the skin several times in the same direction. Pull hard at once to remove the strip along with the hair.
Step 3
Mix ground turmeric, chickpea flour and water until it forms a sticky paste. Apply it to your face and wait for it to dry completely. Rub it off or scrub it off once completely dried. Do not use water to wash the mixture off the skin.
Step 4
Use a small piece of fine sandpaper to brush off fine hair on the cheeks or upper lip. This will only work for fine, fluff-type hair and should be used by pressing only lightly over the skin to avoid scratches.
Tips and Warnings
- When using a home mix of any ingredients, apply the paste to your arm first to see if any allergic reactions occur.
