Feel exhilarated in the mornings with a structured workout routine. Early morning is a quiet time, before the world gets ready for work and school. Take advantage of this solitude before you turn your attention to work or family responsibilities, you may not get a chance to workout later in the day. Think of what kind of workout you can complete in an hour before the daily schedule kicks in. Imagine how good you will feel. It can be hard to get out of bed and get motivated but there are some ways to boost your motivation.
Preparation
Write down in advance, a short list of reasons why you want to get up and exercise, for example, to get fitter, lose weight or be energetic for work. Laminate the list and keep it by your bed. Prepare your workout gear each night. If you are heading straight to work after the gym, pack a bag of work clothes too. Feel more motivated when you wake, knowing that your belongings are prepared. Put a bottle of drink in the refrigerator to cool the night before and grab it before you leave.
Sleep
Get six to eight hours sleep. This is how much the body needs to wake up refreshed and ready for the day. Your energy and motivation will beat their best if you get the right amount of sleep.
Positive Attitude
Look at your list of reasons for exercising that you keep by your bed. When you wake, your mind is not in tune with your personal objectives. The list will remind you why you are getting up. Think about the day ahead and all that you want to achieve. Think about how your workout will start your day in a positive way.
Vary Workout
Stop boredom from creeping in. Change your workout routine everyday, so that you have something new to look forward to when you wake up. Motivate yourself by concentrating on a different part of your body each day, for example, abdominals on Monday, upper body on Tuesday, lower body on Wednesday and cardiovascular on Thursday. Go for a run one day, then to an early morning gym session the next. Take your work clothes with you, shower and head to work from there. Know that by the end of the week, you have given your whole body a balanced workout and missing a day means missing out.
Rewards
Go running as the sun rises to reward yourself with a beautiful view. Promise yourself something that you enjoy for your hard work. Choose something that you will look forward to receiving like low fat chocolate bar, cappuccino or coffee. If you prefer to eat straight after your workout rather than before, satisfy yourself with a healthy breakfast. If you are heading home after your workout, you might choose a warm bath or shower with essential oils. Reinforce your positive behavior with something that gives you pleasure, and feel motivated about completing your workout again the next day.
