Although antibiotics are often necessary, they can have side effects including damage to the kidneys. According to the American Physiological Society, the three most common antibiotics to cause kidney failure are aminoglycosides, cephalosporins and amphotericin B. Provide the healthiest environment for your kidneys after taking antibiotics by drinking cranberry juice. Cranberry juice can help flush those toxins from the kidneys and help them rebuild and recover from damage.

Step 1

Test your kidney function. Your doctor can determine just how much damage has been done to your kidneys by the antibiotics through blood and urine tests.

Step 2

Purchase pure cranberry juice. Many types of cranberry juice mixes and cocktails are available, so it is easy to get confused. The best type of juice for your kidneys, however, is 100 percent cranberry juice.

Step 3

Mix the cranberry juice with water. The mixture should be 1/4 to 1/2 cranberry juice and the rest water. According to the APS, that mixture provides the optimal concentration of antioxidants and electrolytes to help rebuild the kidneys.

Step 4

Drink plenty of fluids. MayoClinic.com recommends drinking 8 to 9 cups of water per day. If you mix each cup with 1/4 of cranberry juice, you'll drink approximately 2 cups of cranberry juice per day.
