Exercise machines can be an essential component to your workout program, but just like any piece of electronics, the exercise machines may need occasional repairs. One component on an exercise machine that may need repairing is the resistance system. Exercise machines typically feature variable resistance that you can fix using various calibration techniques, including changing the batteries.
Step 1
Unplug the power cord and insert the safety key, if applicable. This ensures no electricity is flowing through the exercise machine as you are performing the repairs.
Step 2
Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws and remove the motor or battery cover by pressing the tab on the cover.
Step 3
Remove the old battery and install the new battery. You may need to unhook a connection or reattach a securing nut that keeps the battery in place.
Step 4
Inspect the other internal electrical components of the exercise machine. Replace any other components as necessary.
Step 5
Press and hold the reset button on the back of the console. The reset button resets the computer and should calibrate the resistance.
Step 6
Plug in the power source and remove the safety key..
