Eczema is a skin condition that is common in infants. According to the Rady's Children's Hospital in San Diego, 15 to 20 percent of infants suffer from eczema, up from 7 percent in 1960. Eczema is characterized by scaly, red patches or dots that appear on the infant's extremities, face, and behind the knees, which can wax and wane according to the infant's exposure to environmental factors, according to Dr. Miles Weinberger of the University of Iowa's Children's Hospital.

Step 1

Apply the A+D Original Ointment anywhere you see red, scaly, peeling or irritated patches on your infant. Avoid her eyes and mouth because A+D Original Ointment might irritate her delicate skin in those areas.

Step 2

Cover his hands with cloth bandages if you have applied A+D Original Ointment to his hands and feet and he sucks his fingers or toes. This will prevent him from ingesting the ointment. Keep the bandages in place until the ointment has been absorbed.

Step 3

Remove the bandages and apply new ointment at night and after you bathe her until the eczema goes away.

Things You'll Need
