Many celebrities are better known for their slender bodies than their bodies of work, so it's no surprise people are often curious about their diets. Slim stars tend to follow low-calorie diets, which are ideal for weight loss. The best eating plans include a variety of nutrient-rich foods from every food group.
Jessica Alba
To lose weight after the birth of her first child, Jessica Alba relied on whole grains, lean proteins, fresh produce and healthy fats to keep her full and provide lasting energy for her workouts. A typical diet day for Alba included oatmeal, egg whites and turkey bacon for breakfast, fish and salad for lunch and a grilled chicken breast with brown rice for dinner. Between meals, Alba snacked on almonds, fruit and cheese to curb cravings, reports "People" magazine.
Carrie Underwood
Country singer Carrie Underwood keeps slim by keeping a food journal, where she records everything she eats and tallies up the calories. The vegetarian star never skips breakfast, which is usually oatmeal or an English muffin with margarine spray. A typical lunch for Underwood is a veggie burger or a quesadilla prepared with vegetables, beans and fat-free cheese, as well as Quorn, a meat substitute. Between meals, Underwood snacks on almonds, carrots, pickles and Kashi's Heart to Heart cereal.
Melissa Joan Hart
After the birth of her second son, Melissa Joan Hart tried unsuccessfully to lose the baby weight by eliminating candy and refined carbs from her diet. But it wasn't until she started allowing herself the occasional indulgence that she found dieting success. Hart, who keeps a food journal, typically eats a protein shake with flax seeds and rice milk for breakfast, a whole-wheat wrap with turkey, hummus, tomatoes and avocado for lunch and either salmon or halibut for dinner. Her favorite snacks include unsalted almonds or a piece of prosciutto with feta cheese, and she reaches for gum to combat food cravings.
Milla Jovovich
Actress and model Milla Jovovich has always been slender, but after reaching 192 lb. during her pregnancy, she had a long way to go to reach her pre-pregnancy weight. Jovovich shed 62 lb. with the help of a sensible diet that included tea and Kashi GoLean cereal with skim milk for breakfast, Food for Life's no-flour tortilla and Thai lettuce wraps made with 2.5 oz. chicken breast for lunch and a dinner of steamed salmon and whole-grain pilaf with green tea or water. She also ate two snacks per day, consisting of a slice of fat-free cheese with one or two apples in the morning and turkey jerky and steamed vegetables in the afternoon.
