According to the American Diabetes Association, Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of this condition in the United States, affecting nearly 25.8 million Americans. Various research has suggested that patients can reverse Type 2 diabetes, usually with diet and exercise. Preliminary results of studies suggest that some alternative vitamin therapies may help control blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes. There are no studies that specifically look at treating diabetes with ionic vitamins and minerals versus any other types of vitamins or minerals.
Step 1
Take 600 mcg of chromium in the form of ionic chromium picolinate plus 2 mg of ionic biotin daily. Preliminary studies suggest that this combination could help control blood sugar levels in people with Type 2 diabetes. Ionic chromium and biotin are water-soluble and some people believe that they are more easily absorbed into the bloodstream.
Step 2
Add 2.5 grams of oral ionic magnesium chloride daily to your diet. Magnesium levels and Type 2 diabetes have been studied extensively. Taking magnesium is believed to reduce the likelihood of developing diabetes. A few studies have also suggested that taking magnesium daily can help patients control their blood sugar levels. Magnesium in the ionic form is purported to transfer to a state of free form without any digestive activity.
Step 3
Take 300 mg twice a day of alpha-lipoic acid. Some early studies indicate that alpha-lipoic acid can help to reduce blood sugar. It is also used to treat pain and burning associated with diabetes. According to some proponents, ionic chromium and biotin generate electrical impulses that are required so that your muscles can function properly.
Step 4
Include at least 300 mg of ionic vitamin C in your diet. Vitamin C is believed to help mitigate some of the symptoms included in diabetes, especially heart disease. Vitamin C is water-soluble and will be quickly absorbed by your body.
Step 5
Take 200 IU of ionic vitamin E per day. According to research, vitamin E can help diabetics decrease their insulin requirements.
Tips and Warnings
- Be sure to continue taking any medication your physician prescribes. Diet and exercise are the best ways to reverse diabetes. There is no research that indicates ionic vitamins and minerals are better than any other type of vitamins and minerals.
- Consult with your doctor before adding any alternative therapies to your treatment regime.
