While caffeinated beverages typically contain less than 200 mg of caffeine, you'll find some on the market with 300 mg or more. The energy shots and drinks with at least 500 mg of caffeine on the market have been discontinued, as of 2011. A few energy drinks and large sizes of coffee still contain high amounts of the stimulant. Mayo Clinic notes drinking 500 to 600 mg of caffeine in a day may give you unpleasant side effects including insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, irritability, an upset stomach, fast heartbeat and muscle tremors.

Coffee, 24 oz.

Although the caffeine content varies by brew and brand, you can get at least 500 mg of caffeine in some 24-oz. servings of brewed coffee. Mayo Clinic reports an 8-oz. brewed coffee contains 95 to 200 mg of caffeine. This means a 24-oz. brewed coffee could contain up to 600 mg of caffeine. A 16-oz. Starbucks coffee contains about 330 mg of coffee. Add 8 oz. and you have 495 mg of caffeine.

5150 Energy

Marketed as an additive for homemade energy drinks, 1 oz. of 5150 Energy contains 500 mg of caffeine. The caffeine in 5150 is equivalent to 6.25 cans of Red Bull. The substance also contains a large dose of vitamin B12 -- 9,375 percent of an adult's recommended daily intake. The National Institute for Health Office of Dietary Supplements notes vitamin B12 does not have an established upper limit because it has low potential for toxicity.

Rage Inferno

Marketing itself as the "strongest energy drink on the shelf," Rage Inferno packs 375 mg of caffeine into a 24-oz. bottle. You'll notice the bottle looks like a fire extinguisher and even has a nozzle. You can choose between fruit punch, which comes in a red bottle, and grapefruit citrus, which comes in a yellow bottle.

Redline Power Rush

One 2-oz. bottle of the drink Redline Power Rush will give you 350 mg of caffeine. However, the manufacturer warns that you should drink no more than half the bottle, which is one serving size. You can choose from five flavors, including exotic fruit, lime, mandarin orange, peach mango and wild grape. The company claims to offer the "world's most potent" two-hour energy shot, although it doesn't specify whether its claim considers other nutrient content.
