Yoga vacations and retreats offer a way to revitalize your health and well-being while relaxing and taking a break from your everyday routine. Some yoga centers offer vacations specifically for single people, which provides an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and form new relationships. If you currently take yoga classes, ask your instructor about vacation or retreat opportunities for singles.

Destination

More than 20 states in the United States offer yoga retreats, including Colorado, New Hampshire, Hawaii and Arizona. Decide whether you'd like to spend your retreat on a beach, in the woods or in the arid desert, and then choose an appropriate destination. Yoga retreats are also offered overseas in countries ranging from India and Nepal to Peru and New Zealand, along with the Caribbean Islands, Europe and Costa Rica.

Activities

Yoga vacations range from serious, ascetic retreats to cushy vacations centered around relaxation. Your choice of program will determine whether you rise before dawn for a yoga session each day, or lounge by a pool all day before spending an hour each evening doing yoga. Choose a serious retreat if you're hoping to meet dedicated individuals, or choose a retreat offering activities you'd like to share with others, such as hiking.

Plan Ahead

Make sure you know what's included in your vacation package or at the retreat. Some packages cover everything from transportation to accommodations and language instruction; others require you to arrange your own transportation. Making your own arrangements may save money over the prearranged packages.

Socializing

The larger retreat centers, such as White Lotus Foundation Retreat Center in Santa Barbara, California and Feathered Pipe Ranch in Helena, Montana offer a variety of spiritual courses that offer a chance for social singles to meet new people.
Fodor's Travel Guide recommends a few retreats in particular for singles, including Body Holiday by LeSport in the Caribbean, Pura Vida Wellness Retreat & Spa in Costa Rica, The Standard in Florida and Rancho La Puerta in Mexico.

Rules

Some retreats require participants to cook, clean or perform other chores, while others don't permit alcohol, tobacco or caffeine. Others serve only vegetarian meals. Choose a vacation or retreat where you're willing to abide by their rules for the length of your stay. Shared rooms or bathroom facilities are the norm at some centers, while others offer places to pitch a tent.
