Crawfish and turkey share many beneficial qualities for a healthy diet. Both are highly rich sources of protein, low in fat and loaded with nutrients such as iron, potassium, calcium and niacin. Studies have shown that consuming seafood can help reduce the chances of Alzheimer's, heart disease and cancer, according to the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. Turkey contains nutrients that help in lowering cholesterol and strengthening the immune system. Combining the two foods makes for a healthy meal as well as a delicious one.
Step 1
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Place the turkey legs in the pot and allow them to boil for 15 to 20 minutes or until the meat has reached 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the meat from the pot and let it cool for one to two minutes. Slice the meat of the turkey in large chunks and set it aside.
Step 2
Measure the water by placing the crawfish basket into the pot. Fill the basket with crawfish. Fill with water just to cover the food, especially when the turkey is added.
Step 3
Remove the basket and let it drain completely. Set it aside. Place the lid on the pot and light the burner. Bring the water to a rolling boil.
Step 4
Add the spices and crab boil. Allow them to mix in the boiling water for one to two minutes.
Step 5
Purge the crawfish. Soak the crawfish in a large bin of salt water for three to five minutes. Remove the crawfish and rinse. Return them to the basket.
Step 6
Place the basket into the pot and replace the cover. Allow the water to return to a boil. Shut off the heat and add the turkey meat. Allow the crawfish and turkey to soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 7
Taste a crawfish to check that the flavor meets your satisfaction. If it isn't seasoned enough, allow the crawfish and turkey to soak another 10 minutes.
Step 8
Remove the basket and let drain. Serve the crawfish and turkey.
