What Is the Difference Between Fastin & Adipex?

Fastin and Adipex are brand names for phentermine, a stimulant used as an appetite suppressant and weight loss aid in obese patients. The primary difference between Fastin and Adipex is the amount of phentermine contained in the diet pill. Phentermine is a drug that has several side effects including a high likelihood of developing an addiction if used for an extended amount of time. As such, you should only use these drugs under the supervision of a medical professional.

Fastin

Fastin with phentermine is no longer commercially available in the United States. Fastin pills come in 30 mg doses that contain 24 mg of phentermine. The Food and Drug Administration banned Fastin because this drug has dangerous side effects including impaired vision, headaches, shortness of breath, insomnia, unusual behavior, diarrhea and constipation. Fastin now offers a non-phentermine supplement in the U.S. that contains caffeine.

Adipex

Adipex is a prescription-only medication approved for temporary use as a weight loss aid in obese patients. The FDA has only approved Adipex for obese patients who have a body mass index greater than 30. Adipex comes in 37.5 mg tablets or capsules that contain 30 mg of phentermine. You should not combine Adipex with other weight loss medications as a combination can cause serious heart problems.

Side Effects

Phentermine is a stimulant that shares many properties with amphetamine and will increase the rate at which your body operates. You should take phentermine-based products early in the morning. Taking this product at night will affect your ability to sleep. If you have any type of heart problem or high blood pressure, you should not take any medication that contains phentermine. If you experience shortness of breath, swelling, chest pain, uneven heart beat, a feeling of faintness, confusion or very high blood pressure, stop taking phentermine-based medications immediately and seek medical attention.

Obesity

Obesity is a medical condition that results from excess amounts of fat on your body. Obesity can lead to a variety of health problems including high cholesterol, the narrowing of your artery walls and heart diseases. Doctors typically treat obesity by trying to lower your body mass below 30. Fastin and Adipex are two treatment options for obesity. However, for any diet pill to have long-term effectiveness, you must combine the diet pill with lifestyle changes including diet modification and an exercise regimen.
