White rice is rice that has had the husk, germ and bran removed and has been polished, creating the white color. This milling process removes most nutrients, but also improves shelf life and allows the rice to cook faster. White rice in the United States is enriched with vitamins B1, B3 and iron.

The Uncle Ben's brand has a wide range of rice products. The Original white rice is an enriched parboiled long grain white rice. Parboiled means it has been boiled in the husk before milling. A 1/4 cup of uncooked Uncle Ben's Original rice, which equals one cup of cooked rice, contains 37 grams of carbohydrates, which is 12 percent of a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet.

Uncle Ben's Instant White Rice

Uncle Ben's brand of instant white rice is enriched with iron, thiamine and folic acid. Half a cup of uncooked rice yields one cup of cooked rice. One cup of cooked Uncle Ben's Instant Rice contains 43 grams of carbohydrates, which is 14 percent of the recommended daily allowance for a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet.

Mahatma White Rice

Mahatma white rice is an extra-long enriched white rice product. Mahatma is grown in the United States and is kosher approved. It is enriched with iron, niacin, thiamine and folic acid. A 1/4 cup of uncooked rice yields 3/4 cup of cooked rice, which contains 35 g of carbohydrates (12 percent of the recommended daily allowance).

Minute White Rice

According to the Minute brand website (www.minuterice.com), Minute white rice does not require cooking; the rice is added to water that has been boiled, then covered, where it sits for five minutes. Minute white rice is an enriched, precooked long grain rice. A serving of Minute rice is 1/2 a cup of uncooked rice, which yields 1 cup of cooked rice. One serving of Minute white rice contains 45 grams of carbohydrates (15 percent of the recommended daily allowance).

Lundberg Organic Rice

Lundberg Family Farms (www.lundberg.com) produces organic and ecologically friendly rice products. Lundberg Organic White Long Grain Rice is a certified USDA organic food. A 1/4 cup of Lundberg dry white rice yields a serving size of 3/4 cup of cooked rice. One serving of Lundberg organic white rice contains 36 g of carbohydrates.
