Pilates workouts build a strong body and also challenge your flexibility, balance and stability. While Pilates is sometimes compared to yoga, it is more dynamic, combining breathing in rhythm with your body's movements. When doing Pilates movements, the core is held tightly in place, while the arms and legs move. If you are going through the motions without concentrating on the Pilates principles of breath and core stability, you will not get the most out of this workout.
Step 1
Read the iFit Solutions Pilates Reformer owners manual and watch the workout video before attempting any of the movements. This will give you an understanding of your machine, Pilates principles and form.
Step 2
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Shorts are too restrictive for performing some Pilates leg movements. Do not wear shoes or socks.
Step 3
Test and then adjust, as needed, the tension cables on the reformer. Choose a challenging resistance that will still allow you to do the movements as instructed.
Step 4
Use the Solutions Pilates workout CD to guide you through your workout. If you watched the workout video you will be able to follow the voice instructions with correct form.
Tips and Warnings
- For Pilates beginners, the exercises are hard at first, but your body will adjust to the balancing and strengthening movements. Begin your exercise practice slowly, adding more movements to your routine as your body adapts.
