Mental State
Imipram can affect your mental state shortly after you begin taking it. Drugs.com states that it can lead to suicidal thoughts, especially if you are 23 years old or younger. You can develop panic attacks where you feel anxious and fearful. These symptoms can then manifest as physical symptoms such as a rapid heart rate, chest pain and difficulty breathing. Anxiousness, trouble sleeping, hostility, restlessness, agitation and hyperactivity are additional side effects of Imipram.
Drowsiness
MedlinePlus states that Imipram can make you very drowsy. Use caution when you take part in activities such as driving that require you to be alert. Avoid drinking alcohol when taking Imipram as this can exacerbate your drowsiness.
Skin Sensitivity
Drugs.com states that Imipram can make your skin sensitive to sun and artificial ultraviolet light exposure. Your skin can be susceptible to painful burns so wear protective clothing and apply sunblock daily to protect your skin.
Harmful Side Effects
Imipram can cause such harmful side effects as a severe rash, jaundice (condition where your skin and/or eyes turn yellow), an irregular heartbeat or a severe rash. It can also cause jaw, back or neck muscle spasms and problems speaking. Minor Side Effects
