Breast surgery is serious business and you want an expert in the field. When deciding on a plastic surgeon, look for one certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. This ensures that the surgeon has at least 5 years of experience in surgery, with at least 2 years in the field of plastic surgery. You should feel comfortable with your surgeon and be able to ask him any questions.
4. Be Prepared for the Lift
Even though it is typically a day surgery, a breast lift is still a major procedure. Depending on your age and medical history, you may need to undergo certain tests, such as a mammogram and blood tests. If you smoke, stop prior to the surgery. Don't take any anti-inflammatory drugs, like aspirin, since they can increase bleeding. After surgery, you should have someone drive you home and stay with you for at least one night.
5. Things Could Go Wrong With Breast Lift Surgery
Because it is surgery, a breast lift may have serious complications. Blood clots, deep vein thrombosis and cardiac complications are all possibilities. Persistent pain is another possible side effect. There also is some chance that you will need revision surgery, if you are not pleased with the first breast lift. Discuss these problems and any other questions you have with your plastic surgeon before having breast lift surgery.
