You may find almond oil in salads that contain vitamin B, but you won't find any B vitamins in the oil itself. Almond oil is a good source of vitamin E. It can bring a distinctive nutty flavor to recipes, and the oil is used in a variety of personal care products such as shampoo, cleansers and hair removers.
Alternative Medicine
Although almond oil doesn't contain vitamin B, it has other properties that may be beneficial. An article in the February 2010 issue of "Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice" reports that almond oil has been used in the practice of complementary medicine for many years. The author notes that there is no conclusive scientific data regarding the use of almond oil in medicine, but almonds and almond oil do have "anti-inflammatory, immunity-boosting and anti-hepatotoxicity effects." The author further notes that researchers have studied almond oil for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, colonic cancer and high cholesterol.
Vitamin B
The eight B vitamins help your body get energy from the foods you eat and help form red blood cells. The vitamins are available in supplements, and even though almond oil doesn't contain any B vitamins, many other foods are good sources of the vitamins. You'll find B vitamins in proteins such as meat, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products, and in leafy green vegetables, beans and peas. Vitamin B is added to some cereals and breads, too.
Vitamin E
Proponents tout vitamin E for its antioxidant properties and suggest it as a way to treat or prevent a number of health conditions, including cancer and heart disease. MayoClinic.com notes, however, that there is no clear scientific evidence that vitamin E can treat anything besides vitamin E deficiency, which is rare. In high doses, the vitamin may increase the risk of bleeding.
Personal Care
Almond oil has been used since ancient times to treat dry skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. You can find it in a variety of personal care items because of its emollient properties. It turns up on the ingredient label of many brand-name shampoos, body washes, moisturizing lotions, conditioners, cleansing bars and hair removal products.
Foods
You can use almond oil as an alternative to olive oil and other vegetable oils in salad dressings, sauces and mayonnaise. You can also find it on the ingredient list of dessert recipes. RecipeTips.com notes that almond oil is not as concentrated as almond extract, so it won't give sweets a strong almond taste. You can also use it for high-heat cooking because of its high smoke point.
