Wine has been a popular drink for thousands of years. Its consumption has been documented in biblical, medieval and modern times. Wine has a sweet taste, but can also be tart and tangy. Some people choose wine over liquor or beer because of the flavor. Some of the flavorings added to certain wines cover up the strong, pungent alcohol taste. Wine can be created from your own home, given the proper equipment and ingredients.
Step 1
Crush your berries and nutmeg, using your rolling pin on a clean counter top. Layer your two sheets of cheese cloth. Wrap your crushed berries, crushed nutmeg and hops in your two-layered cheese cloth and tie your cheese cloth with a strand of butcher's twine.
Step 2
Combine your honey and water in an extra large pot. Drop your cheese cloth into the pot. Place the pot on high heat and boil for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat after 30 minutes and let cool until it is warm.
Step 4
Take 1/2 cup of your honey water out of the pot and pour it into a medium-size bowl, along with the yeast. Mix the yeast, honey water and sugar in the medium bowl until it has reached a creamy texture, then set aside until your yeast begins to bubble.
Step 5
Pour the yeast mixture into the pot and mix thoroughly. Remove your cheese cloth bag and pour your honey water into a large air-tight container. Allow the mixture to ferment for no less than six months at an average temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Leave the honey water in the mixture longer for better results.
