HGH Complete is a nutritional supplement made by the Fountain of Youth company that is marketed to promote the natural production of human growth hormone, or HGH. Each serving of HGH Complete contains a proprietary blend of different compounds, some of which have potentially serious side effects. Consult your physician before using HGH Complete or similar supplements.
Tribulus Terrestris
HGH Complete contains tribulus terrestris extract, a type of flowering herb that is marketed as a testosterone and growth hormone releasing hormone, or GHRH, booster, which in turn stimulates HGH production. According to a study published in the 2003 journal "The Breast," tribulus terrestris intake may cause gynaecomastia, which is a benign breast condition in males that results in abnormal mammary gland development, which can lead to unnatural breast enlargement.
L-arginine
L-arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid that in small doses is beneficial for your body. However, according to the book, "Nutritional Supplements in Sports and Exercise," high doses of arginine may cause gastrointestinal distress, such as stomach ache, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting, as well as dizziness, fatigue, and mental confusion. A high intake of arginine over a long period of time may result in more serious side effects, such as depression, anxiety, muscle tremors and kidney and liver damage.
CoEnzyme Q-10
Coenzyme Q-10, or CoQ10 is produced naturally by the human body and needed for the basic functioning of many of your body's cells. However, CoQ10 supplementation may cause adverse reactions in some people, such as an allergic reaction. MayoClinic.com states that supplements containing CoQ10 may cause some side effects, including gastrointestinal distress, heartburn, itchy skin, insomnia, headache, light sensitivity of the eyes, flu-like symptoms, lower blood sugar and platelet levels, lower blood pressure and organ damage due to a lack of oxygen flow during intense exercise.
Elevated HGH Levels
The manufacturer of HGH Complete claims that the supplement will increase serum HGH levels in your bloodstream. According to the book, "Anabolic Primer," elevated levels of HGH can contribute to poor insulin production, which can damage your pancreas. HGH may also hinder the production of epinephrine and norepinephrine, stress hormones that regulate blood pressure and heart rate. Elevated HGH levels may also cause headaches, mood swings, excessive sweating, skin discoloration, visual interference, and body odor.
