Pilates Power Gym Vs. VigorFit

The Pilates Power Gym and VigorFit Gym are two home gyms competing with the Total Gym. Both of the gyms are rowing machines with added features specifically designed for doing Pilates-style workouts. Even though the Pilates Power Gym and VigorFit Gym are virtually identical machines, they have notable differences that should be taken into consideration before purchasing one over the other.

Pilates Power Gym

The Pilates Power Gym arrives at your door fully assembled with a free pushup bar, resistance bands, three workout DVD's, an eating plan and a one-year manufacturer's warranty. A one-year payment plan is available for those who qualify. The Pilates Power Gym has a weight limit of 300 lbs. The machine can create a maximum of 261.1 lbs. of resistance for a user who weighs 300 lbs. For a user who weighs 150 lbs., it can create up to 150.5 lbs. of resistance.

VigorFit Gym

The VigorFit Gym arrives at your door 98 percent assembled and takes approximately 15 minutes to set up. The machine comes with a pushup bar, pullup bar and resistance bands, but does not include workout DVD's or a diet plan. The VigorFit gym has a weight limit of 350 lbs. The VigorFit Gym claims it can produce 440 lbs. of resistance, however, this is only true for a user who weighs 250 lbs. and has added 100 lbs. of free weights plus the resistance bands.

Cost Comparison

The Pilates Power Gym is the best value. As of July 2011, it costs $349.95 and includes free shipping and handling. The VigorFit Gym costs $397. The normal shipping cost is $54 within the U.S. The VigorFit website is offering free shipping for a limited time but does not specify when the offer will end.

Total Gym

Both the Pilates Power Gym and the VigorFit Gym bear a striking resemblance to the Total Gym, endorsed by Chuck Norris. All three machines are essentially the same piece of equipment; however, the cost of the Total Gym cannot be compared to the Pilates Power Gym or VigorFit Gym. The Total Gym offers three models ranging in price from $599.40 to 899.55 as of July 2011, making it almost twice as expensive as the other two options.
