How to Cover JELL-O With Fondant

Rolled fondant can dress up any dessert, from a classic cake to a JELL-O Jiggler. Make your parties more fun by replacing fussy petit fours with playful Jigglers, made with water -- or your favorite liquor for the adults. You can use store-bought or homemade marshmallow fondant to cover JELL-O treats. Store-bought fondant is quick and convenient, but the marshmallow version has a better flavor. Match your colors and design to your party theme.

Step 1

Combine two packages of JELL-O with 2 1/2 cups of boiling water. Stir until the JELL-O dissolves, then pour into the baking pan. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.

Step 2

Knead purchased or homemade fondant until smooth and pliable.

Step 3

Dust your work surface with confectioners' sugar, and roll the fondant out to the desired thickness, typically around 1/4 inch or less, with a rolling pin.

Step 4

Place the fondant on the rolling pin, and gently transfer it to the top of your JELL-O Jigglers. Smooth into place.

Step 5

Cut your Jigglers out with a sharp knife.

Tips and Warnings

  • Add fondant cutouts to decorate your JELL-O if desired. Color your fondant with food coloring in your favorite shades. Make your JELL-O Jigglers grow up with the addition of vodka. Combine four small packages of JELL-O with 1 1/2 cups of boiling water. Stir until the JELL-O has dissolved. Add 6 oz. of vodka and 2 oz. of cold water. Pour into a 9-by-13-inch pan and chill until firm. Swap out the vodka for rum or tequila, if you prefer.
  • Keep alcohol-laced Jigglers well away from minors.
