Difference Between Nutrisystem Advance & Nourish

Nutrisystem is a company that offers a variety of weight loss products. Nutrisystem claims to help you achieve your ideal weight by providing you with the right foods. Additionally, Nutrisystem programs do not require you to measure, cook or count calories as part of the company's diet plans. Nutrisystem plans include specific plans for men, women and special needs individuals such as vegetarians and diabetics. Nutrisystem Advance and Nourish are two Nutrisystem plans. As with any diet program, you should speak with a doctor prior to starting any Nutrisystem plan.

Advance

Nutrisystem Advance combines new food items into your diet with free weight loss counseling. According to Nutrisystem, counseling about food, exercise and emotional issues is an important component of any successful weight loss plan. The Advanced program allows you to speak with a counselor over the phone or via Online chat at no additional cost. The plan does, however, require for you to pay for the Nutrisystem food items. The plan offers more than 150 food choices, including pizza and desserts. All meals come in the mail, proportioned for easy preparation. With each monthly meal delivery, you will also receive a motivational guidance and an exercise DVD. According to Nutrisystem, you can expect to lose one to two pounds per week using the Nutrisystem Advance program.

Nourish

The Nourish system is based on the glycemic index. Foods in this program are rich in good carbohydrates and low in fat. The Nourish program allows you to continue to eat carbohydrates and includes foods such as pancakes, sweet potato and noodles with chicken. The Nourish plan is a 28-day program and includes proportioned food delivery. Additionally, the Nourish system includes an exercise program. According to Nutrisystem, you can expect to lose one to two pounds a week on the Nutrisystem Nourish program.

Foods

The foods that are available with both the Nutrisystem Advanced and Nourish systems do not require refrigeration, and you will receive a 30-day supply with the Advance program and a 28-day supply with the Nourish program. Neither plan uses fresh foods and you will find preservatives in most of the prepackaged food items. The Advance system adds omega fatty acids and fiber to the packaged food items. You can not eat non-Nutrisystem foods while using the Advanced program. On the other hand, the Nourish system allows you to eat low-fat foods in addition to the prepackaged meal options.

The Difference

The primary difference between the Advance and Nourish plans is that the advanced system only allows you to eat pre-packaged meals. The Nourish system provides you with a guide for preparing fresh foods allowed by the system and also offers recommendations for dining out. Both diet plans require you to exercise regularly and both emphasize that the long-term success of any diet program depends on lifestyle changes, including exercise and diet modification.
