1. It's Still Invasive
During a regular breast lift, surgeons usually discard excess skin and tissues removed from the breast. Laser breast lift surgery utilizes these tissues. A laser burns off the tissues and skin, and the surgeon attaches them to the chest wall under the breast. These altered tissues create an "internal bra" to hold up the breasts. The internal bra causes no discomfort to the patient post-surgery, and is invisible from the outside.
2. There's Less Risk
Before lasers, doctors who wanted to create an internal bra had to use donor tissue or surgical implant materials. Since laser breast lift surgery uses the patient's own tissue, there is no risk of rejection. Risks for the laser cataplexy are the same as for a traditional breast lift. These risks include blood clots, loss of sensation in the nipple, asymmetry, relapse of sagging, infection and bleeding. Risks are low, but patients need to consider them.
3. Results Are More Long Term
The internal bra that a laser breast lift creates increases how long the lift results last. The "underwire" molded from the laser holds up the breasts longer, although eventually gravity will take its toll. Many times, doctors perform laser breast lifts in conjunction with implants or reductions. The laser breast lift works well with either of these options.
4. Recovery Time Is the Same
A laser breast lift doesn't affect recovery time. Since it's invasive, it still takes time to heal. The laser procedure doesn't increase the time needed to recover. A day after the surgery, doctors allow patients to get up and around. Patients need one week of rest off work to let their body recuperate. Doctors suggest avoiding strenuous activities for three to four weeks following surgery, or longer if there are any complications.
5. Talk to Your Surgeon
Not all surgeons offer laser breast lift surgery. Discuss your options with the doctor. Ask about his track record with the new laser technique, his training, whether he thinks it's a good fit for you and the costs involved. Keep in mind that medium breast sizes have better results from laser breast lift surgery. Larger breast sizes do not see the same benefits from the laser lift that A, B and C cups do.
