Rib eye steak is a prime cut of beef from the rib area of the steer. It is heavily marbled, which gives the rib eye its natural tenderness. Pan-frying a rib eye steak is one of the most common ways to prepare the meat. Fry a good-quality rib eye steak in a cast-iron skillet, as it will evenly distribute the heat and enable you to cook more efficiently.
Step 1
Brush the steak with olive oil. Season the rib eye with sea salt and ground pepper to taste.
Step 2
Preheat the cast-iron skillet on medium-high heat. Add a small amount of olive oil to the pan and continue the heating process until a small amount of smoke is evident.
Step 3
Place the rib eye on the hot skillet and sear for five minutes. Turn the steak over and sear the reverse side in the same manner.
Step 4
Reduce the heat on the stove and allow each side of the steak to cook for an additional five minutes. You can season again at this point if desired.
Step 5
Check the rib eye for internal temperature, which must be 145 degrees Fahrenheit to be considered safe to serve. You can adjust the cooking times and temperatures to achieve the desired results.
