A vitamin C flush involves taking increasing doses of vitamin C until you induce a bowel movement and need to go to the toilet. This is done to help determine your daily vitamin C requirement, which is 75 percent of the total dose taken during the flush. The preferred form of vitamin C to use is L-ascorbate since the D form is not absorbed by humans. In addition, since vitamin C is an acid, get a buffered form. Vitamin C is buffered with these minerals: potassium, magnesium, calcium and zinc.
Step 1
Start a vitamin C flush in the morning and on an empty stomach.
Step 2
Mix 1/2 tsp. vitamin C with 2 oz. water. Stir until the vitamin dissolves, and allow 2 minutes for the effervescence to abate. Start with 2 tsp. vitamin C if you are ill.
Step 3
Record the dose of the vitamin C as 1.5 mg for every 1/2 tsp.
Step 4
Drink down the dissolved vitamin C. Wait for 15 minutes.
Step 5
Repeat Step 2, Step 3 and Step 4 if you don't need to go to the toilet during the wait.
Step 6
Increase the dose to 1 tsp. vitamin C if there is no gurgling or rumbling in your gut after the fourth dose. Keep the 15-minute interval.
Step 7
Stop taking the flush after you have induced a bowel movement and passed out watery stool.
Step 8
Multiply the number of vitamin C drinks you took by 1.5 mg to obtain the total dose of the vitamin taken. Seventy-five percent of the total is your daily vitamin C requirement.
