Broiling whole shrimp is a simple task. The key is in the marinade -- always use fresh ingredients -- and the quality of your shrimp. Ideally, you should buy fresh shrimp at a local farmer's market no more than 24 hours before consumption. This will ensure freshness and the best quality taste. Make sure your fresh shrimp smells of only saltwater. If fresh shrimp is not available, buy the frozen shrimp in the seafood section of your local grocery store. Frozen shrimp can be preserved up to four weeks.

Step 1

Preheat the oven broiler to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Wash your jumbo shrimp thoroughly.

Step 2

Pour 1/4 cup of melted butter, 1/2 cup of diced parsley, 5 crushed garlic cloves, 2 tsp. of dried oregano, 1/4 tsp. of dried thyme, 2 tsp. of lemon juice and 1/3 cup of olive oil into a mixing bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 3

Add 1 pound of clean, jumbo shrimp to the mixing bowl. Marinate the shrimp for one hour. Arrange the shrimp on a greased broiling pan in a single layer with tongs. Baste the shrimp liberally with the remaining marinade in the mixing bowl.

Step 4

Broil for five minutes. Turn the shrimp over with tongs and broil for an additional five minutes.
