Dieters have several choices when it comes to choosing a weight loss shake. Names like Slim-Fast have been around for decades, while others brands, such as Quick Trim, have more recently entered the diet shake market. Some of these diets integrate shakes with traditional meals, while others are complete meal replacement plans.
Slim-Fast
Slim-Fast is one of the most recognized names in the weight-loss shake industry. Dieters on the Slim-Fast 3-2-1 plan eat three snacks, drink two meal replacement shakes and eat one sensible dinner. The goal of the Slim Fast 3-2-1 is weight loss through portion and calorie control.
OPTIFAST
OPTIFAST is a medically supervised, comprehensive weight loss program. Patients are placed on a very low calorie diet, consisting primarily of meal replacement shakes, and are also provided with behavioral counseling. Caloric goals are determined by the physician for each client based on overall health and weight loss desired. However, most clients are restricted to an average of 800 calories per day.
HMR Shakes
HMR shakes are also intended to be a part of a medically supervised weight loss program and are designed for individuals who need to lose more than 30 pounds, as directed by their physicians. The HMR shakes are used in conjunction with other prepackaged meals and snack bars.
QuickTrim Fast Shakes
Made by Windmill Health Products, the same company that manufactures QuickTrim diet pills, QuickTrim Fast-Shakes claim to be the "energizing weight loss protein shake." QuickTrim Fast Shakes are sold in powder form. When mixed with water, each serving contains 110 calories, 3 g of fat and 8 g of protein.
Organic HempShake
HempShake is a meal replacement shake for those who wish to purchase organic products made with fair trade ingredients. Each shake contains 100 calories or fewer when mixed with water and contains organic hemp protein.
