Coconut carries numerous benefits and healing properties. Having been utilized for centuries by Asian cultures for its health and beauty attributes, coconut is an ingredient in many products to enhance skin and hair, including hair growth. The oil of the coconut has properties and nutrients that soothes, strengthens and repairs your hair.

Strengthens Strands

The low molecular weight of coconut oil and its use as an effective hair sealant helps to retain moisture in the strands, strengthening and protecting it while being styled. Coconut oil binds to the natural protein structure of hair and reinforces the hair fibers. It supplies your hair’s strands with antioxidants and free radicals that deep condition the shaft of your strands from within, thereby making them stronger. The result is strong strands that grow longer without sustaining damage and split-ends.

Prevents and Repairs Damaged Hair

The oil of coconuts has the ability to restore and reduce protein loss due to the use of harsh shampoos and conditioners. Lauric acid, present in coconut oil, is closely related to your hair’s natural proteins and, therefore, minimizes protein loss in your hair. Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft to supply your hair with moisture and protein, repairing and protecting it from further damage.

Soothes Dry Scalp

Coconut oil helps to replace natural oils your hair loses on a daily basis due to washing, weather, sweating and other normal day-to-day activities. A natural antifungal, coconut oil to your scalp prevents dandruff and other dry scalp conditions while stimulating proper circulation and blood flow to your hair follicles. Since coconut oil is not a heavy oil it does not clog your pores, promoting hair growth and the absorption of its various nutrients.

Application

Apply coconut twice a week for the most effective results. When applying coconut oil, you should apply it directly to your hair and scalp. Part your hair into small sections, secure each section with a clip or hair band, and work with each section. Only a small amount of coconut oil is necessary for each section. After you’ve applied the oil to your scalp, rub a quarter-size amount in your hands and massage over your hair. To maximize the benefits of coconut oil apply it consistently.
