The snowboard fittings, also commonly referred to as bindings, feature a series of safety straps that fit around your toe and ankle. Choosing a set of fittings that's too large will cause your feet to slide around during high-speed maneuvers. Fittings that are too small can hinder your ankle movement, making even the most basic of turns quite difficult. Shred-O-Pedia recommends wearing your regular snowboard boots when determining the proper size of fittings. Snowboard fittings should have a snug yet comfortable fit.

Step 1

Slide your feet into a pair of properly fitted snowboarding boots. Tighten the boot laces or rotate the adjustment knob clockwise. Lower the snowboard fittings onto the ground to begin the sizing process.

Step 2

Lift the release mechanisms to loosen the toe and ankle straps of the snowboard fittings. Raise the high-back plates of the snowboard fittings to a vertical position. Place the tread of your boots flat against the base plates of the snowboard fittings.

Step 3

Slide your feet backwards until your heels make contact with the high-back plates. Downsize the snowboard fittings if the high-back plates make contact with the base of your calves. Tighten the ratcheted toe straps around the front end of your snowboarding boots.

Step 4

Fasten the ankle straps over the laces of your snowboard boots. Choose a smaller set of snowboard fittings if more than 1-inch of your toes hangs over the edge.
