Baked brie is a wonderful appetizer that is perfect for elegant parties or your everyday cookout. The dish is full of different textures and flavors that make it unique and irresistible. The creaminess of the cheese combined with the crisp pastry, along with the combination of the nutty cheese and sweet fig jam, work perfectly together. This simple appetizer has few ingredients and can be ready in no time at all.

Preparing the Baked Brie

Step 1

Thaw the puff pastry in the refrigerator until it is pliable.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the thawed puff pastry onto the counter.

Step 3

Spread the 1/4 cup of fig jam into the center of the puff pastry using a spatula. Spread it evenly over a 5-inch area.

Step 4

Place the brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry over the fig jam.

Step 5

Beat the egg and lightly brush the egg onto the edges of the puff pastry using the pastry brush. Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the brie, making sure the cheese is completely covered. Brush the top of the pastry with the remainder of the egg.

Step 6

Line the sheet tray with parchment paper and place the pastry in the center of the tray. Put the sheet tray in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until it has turned a golden brown color.

Step 7

Carefully remove from the oven and place the baked brie on a serving tray. Serve with crackers.

Tips and Warnings

  • Caramelized onions, almonds, pecans or walnuts on top of the fig jam add another level of flavor and texture.
