Every tennis player who has played outside on a sunny day knows how frustrating sweat in the eyes can be. Not only does excess sweat make it almost impossible to see, but it makes a player's eyes sting as well. Luckily, there are a few simple steps a tennis player can follow to stop sweat from dripping into their eyes. Most apparel companies have a full line of accessories specifically designed to help a player's eyes stay sweat free.
Outfit Yourself Against Sweat
Step 1
Wear a hat. Hats are a multipurpose tool for the tennis player. Hats not only shade the face from the sun, keeping you cooler, but also absorb much of the sweat from your hair and forehead. Some players have difficulty hitting serves and overheads while wearing a hat. If this is the case for you, wear a headband instead.
Step 2
Wear a headband or bandanna if you have difficulty playing with a hat or prefer the style. Headbands and bandannas both do a good job of absorbing sweat on your forehead, preventing it from dripping into your eyes.
Step 3
Put on wristbands. Wristbands are an easy way to absorb extra sweat from your forehead. Wear two wristbands, one on each wrist. Between points, you can use the wristband to wipe your forehead.
Step 4
Bring a towel to the court. You can either keep the towel by the bench, or place it by the back fence. There is plenty of time in between points to use the towel to absorb any remaining sweat on your head and forehead. Professional players towel off between virtually every point in order to keep as sweat-free as possible.
Tips and Warnings
- Even products designed to absorb the maximum amount of moisture will eventually become waterlogged. Bring extra headbands, wristbands, hats and towels to ensure you will always have dry spares if you need them.
