Kiwi are sweet yet tart fruit that have a multitude of small black seeds. These seeds are concentrated in a ring around the pale core of the fruit. The entire kiwi is edible, with the exception of the skin, so you do not need to remove the seeds. However, if you dislike the texture of the seeds when you chew them, or if you wish to plant the seeds, you can remove them.

Step 1

Cut the kiwi in half widthwise using the paring knife.

Step 2

Peel the kiwi by cutting off the skin with the paring knife. Discard the skin.

Step 3

Cut into the center of the flesh of the kiwi on the side that you peeled. Cut a ring around the outside layer of the seeds.

Step 4

Remove the core of the kiwi with your fingers. Discard the seeds and center portion, unless you plan to plant the seeds.

Step 5

Roll the core of the kiwi on a clean paper towel. Apply pressure as you roll the core. The seeds will slowly come off as you roll the kiwi and stick to the paper towel. Rinse the seeds in a fine mesh sieve and plant them according to your instructions.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 kiwi fruit
  • Paring knife
  • Paper towel
  • Mesh sieve
