How to Figure Out Net Carbs in Atkins Bars

Atkins bars provide on-the-go nutrition and are specially formulated for Atkins dieters. The Atkins diet is a low carbohydrate diet, where dieters consume very limited amounts of net carbs. Net carbs equate to the total amount of carbohydrates in a food after subtracting the fiber. Because sugar alcohol does not impact blood glucose levels, they are subtracted from the carbohydrate count. Consult your physician prior to starting the Atkins diet or any other weight loss plan.

Step 1

Locate the nutrition label on the Atkins bar or box. This information is usually found on the back of the bar or box.

Step 2

Find the carbohydrate content of one bar. For example, an Atkins Chocolate Chip Granola bar contains 18 g of carbohydrates.

Step 3

Locate the fiber and sugar alcohol content of the bar. This information can be found below the carbohydrate content. For example, the Atkins Chocolate Chip Granola bar contains 6 g of fiber and 9 g of sugar alcohols.

Step 4

Subtract the sugar alcohol and fiber content from the total carbohydrate content to determine the bar's net carbs. In this case, the Atkins Chocolate Chip Granola bar would contain 3 net carbs.
