Dehydrating carrots makes them easier to store and lighter for carrying when hiking or participating in other outdoor activities. Dehydration involves the removal of most of the moisture content of the carrots to slow down their decomposition considerably. Water makes up 88 percent of the bulk weight of carrots, so dehydrating reduces their sizes considerably.
Step 1
Place the carrots in a microwave-safe dish.
Step 2
Pour boiling water over the carrots to slightly blanch the carrots for 2 minutes, then pour them into a colander. Place the carrots back in the microwave-safe dish.
Step 3
Cover the dish, and place it in the microwave. Set the microwave on high, and heat for 8 minutes.
