Turkey breasts are delicious and healthy. They are also easy to store. If you don't plan to cook them before the expiration date, you can pop them in the freezer and store them for up to one year. When it is time to use those frozen turkey breasts, ensure they are still good before cooking. Turkey breast that have been frozen for a long time aren't harmful to eat, but the quality and taste can be greatly affected.

Step 1

Look for any discoloration. If the turkey breast is a brownish shade, dispose of the breast.

Step 2

Thaw the meat and feel the turkey breast. It should feel similar to a fresh turkey breast. If it feels dry and leathery, it is no longer good.

Step 3

Check the date. For best results, a turkey breast should not be frozen for more than a year.

Step 4

Thaw the meat and smell the turkey breast. If it smells abnormal or sour, do not eat it.

Step 5

Check for ice crystals. If there are many ice crystals, the turkey breast has been heavily freezer burned. Discard the turkey breast for quality reasons.
