According to Mayo Clinic, safe weight loss is a gradual process that should occur at a rate of one to two pounds per week. While one to two pounds per week may not seem like a lot, you will begin to notice changes in your body -- including changes in the way your clothes fit. To provide a better picture of your weight loss progress, you can opt to keep a photo journal of your weight loss journey. This can remind you of the weight you do not want to keep and motivate you to reach your weight loss goal.

Step 1

Change into something that will reveal your weight loss. Opt for boxer shorts or swim trunks if you are a guy. For women, a bathing suit or a sports bra and underwear can help best show your weight loss progress. Avoid spandex clothing -- spandex can cause you to appear thinner than you actually are.

Step 2

Set up your digital camera on a tripod and set the timer. Take a few test shots and, if necessary, move the camera so it is far enough away from you. You want to take a full body shot. If you are comfortable with the idea, a friend or family member can take the photographs for you.

Step 3

Take a before picture -- this picture should be taken at the start of your weight loss journey. Place the picture in a journal. Record the date underneath your picture. You can also opt to include your weight and measurements to help better track your progress.

Step 4

Take front, back and side view pictures of your body for an accurate portrayal of your progress.

Step 5

Take pictures of your progress every week. Record your weight and measurements as well.

Step 6

Observe your pictures. Take note of the changes occurring in your body.
