Burning fat on the trampoline isn't the only positive effect this exercise has on your body. A trampoline provides rebounding exercises that strengthen the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. Rebounding exercise is very effective for managing body composition by improving the muscle-to-fat ratio. In an article published in the "Journal of Applied Physiology," NASA suggests that exercising on a trampoline is the most effective, efficient form of exercise invented by man. For increased safety and convenience, use a mini trampoline. It is smal and stores easily when not in use.
Step 1
Dress in comfortable active wear and skid-resistant sneakers.
Step 2
Place your mini trampoline in a safe environment -- away from furniture, appliances, pets and children.
Step 3
Jump on the trampoline for 2 minutes at a slow pace to warm up.
Step 4
Continue jumping on the trampoline for 13 minutes at a faster pace.
Step 5
Take a few sips of water. Your body needs to stay hydrated as you exercise, but cramping might occur if you drink too much water when bouncing on the trampoline.
Step 6
Bounce on the trampoline for an additional 15 minutes.
Step 7
Return to a slow bounce for 2 minutes for cooling down. Stopping trampoline exercises abruptly can cause imbalance and instability, increasing your risk of injury.
Tips and Warnings
- To find out how many calories you would burn in 30 minutes of trampoline rebounding, add 83 calories to every 100 lbs. you weigh. For instance, a 100-lb. person burns 83 calories and a 200-lb. person burns 166 calories. Drink plenty of water after your trampoline workout. If you're lucky enough to have a large trampoline in your backyard, always have a spotter or workout partner to monitor your exercises.
- Read the manufacturer's instructions for proper use and maintenance of all exercise equipment. If your mini trampoline comes with a balance bar, use it for increased stability.
