The edges of the snowboard often are reinforced with stainless steel or carbon fiber for increased handling and turning efficiency. Despite this durable design, harsh impacts with rails, boxes or trees can dent and crack the edges of your snowboard. Avoid costly bills at your local mountain shop by fixing the edges of the snowboard yourself. The repair specialists at Transworld Snowboarding recommend using a C-clamp when fixing the edges of your snowboard. Avoid over-tightening your clamp, since this might cause dimples to form in the snowboard.
Step 1
Place a flat-head screwdriver onto your cracked or dented edge. Pound the top of the screwdriver with a hammer to flatten out the edge. Slide a few nails into the damaged edge of your snowboard to spread the sidewalls.
Step 2
Allow your snowboard to sit at room temperature for a few days to prevent moisture from accumulating around the core. Apply a small amount of epoxy between the sidewalls of your damaged edge. Heat the epoxy with a hair dryer to ensure it liquifies and seeps into the core.
Step 3
Rotate the handle counterclockwise to loosen the jaws of the clamp. Align the clamp over the damaged edge of your snowboard. Place a cotton cloth between the jaws of the clamp and your snowboard to prevent scratches and dings.
Step 4
Turn the clamp handle clockwise to tighten the jaws around the edge of the snowboard. Allow the clamp to sit overnight to ensure the sidewalls of the damaged edge bind together. Remove the clamp to examine your repair.
