The most stylish snowboarders have spent countless hours perfecting even the most basic of maneuvers. While good style isn't something that can be learned, you can use a few basic techniques to make yourself appear more comfortable on the board. The more effortless your approach, the better your snowboarding style will be. Airtime and speed are two of the most important aspects of good style. Mastering your board control and balance will allow you to feel comfortable when attempting aerial maneuvers at breakneck speeds.
Step 1
Ride forward with your knees bent to maintain a loose snowboarding style. Hold your arms behind your back while leaning forward to employ an aerodynamic riding stance. Shift your body weight onto your back foot as you approach your top speed.
Step 2
Apply downward pressure to the outer edge of your snowboard to perform a stylish heel-side carve. Drag your hand through the snow for extra style points. Shift your body weight onto the toe edge of your snowboard with a swift, fluid movement.
Step 3
Keep your shoulders parallel with the snowboard as you execute a stylish toe-side carve. Point the nose of your snowboard down the slope to regain a forward riding stance. Extend your legs to jump vertically as you reach a comfortable speed.
Step 4
Lean back to land on the tail of the snowboard. Balance on the tail for a brief moment to perform a stylish flat ground maneuver known as the wheelie. Navigate your way towards a kicker ramp that allows you to jump at least 6 to 8 feet above the ground.
Step 5
Extend your legs to leap skyward as you reach the apex of the ramp. Lift your knees towards your chest to maximize the airtime of the jump. Grip the back end of the snowboard with your dominant hand to perform a stylish trick known as a tail grab.
Step 6
Point the nose of your snowboard toward the ground for extra style points. Release the grab as you begin to lose altitude. Bend your knees as you descend onto the snow to ensure a smooth and stylish landing.
