Homemade pepperoni can be flavored to your specific taste preferences and made with choice ingredients. Although pepperoni is a fatty food, you can opt for 85 percent lean beef to reduce some of the fat. When the process of making your pepperoni is complete, storage is the next step. Storing your pepperoni for later use is quick and easy.
Step 1
Prepare the pepperoni for later use. Slice it, crumble it or keep the log whole.
Step 2
Place the pepperoni in a zippered freezer bag. Write the date the pepperoni was made on the bag with a permanent maker.
Step 3
Write "freeze by" and "use by" on the outside of the bag. For "freeze by," it should be five days after the pepperoni was made. For "use by," it should be six months after the pepperoni was made.
Step 4
Put the freezer bag in the refrigerator. If not used by the "freeze by" date, move the bag to the freezer. Use or discard any remaining pepperoni by the "use by" date.
